| The South Porch | |
The 14th Century South Porch contains a Holy Water stoup, damaged by the 17th Century puritans. Notice too, in the porch, the tablet of Stephen Mason, with its merchant’s mark and arms of the Vintner’s Company, erected in memory of his first wife who died on Christmas Eve, 1552. He left space to insert the date of his own death which, however, was never filled in. He married again, and survived until 1560, his second wife dying two years later. |
