History of Holy Cross

The accounts below of the ancient Parish Church of Bearsted are written in the hope that they will be of help to visitors and Friends of the Church who wish to know something of its history and architecture. They will prove invaluable during a short visit or inspection of the building, which is so much part of the history and heritage of the local community. It is hoped that they will be of interest to those who live in the Parish, worship in the Church, or are a visitor or tourist in the area.

Remember, O Lord, your faithful servants who throughout the centuries have worshiped and served you in this parish church of Holy Cross. May those who continue to meet you in this place be mindful of their rich heritage and seek to serve you afresh in each new generation. And may God's blessing rest upon us all. Amen.
