Music

The Choir

The purpose of the choir is "To lead, enrich and enhance the worship at Holy Cross through music", mainly at Sung Eucharist and Evensong. In addition, there are special services, and most years include a residential week, singing services in a cathedral. Many of the adult members have been in the choir since joining when they were 8. Music covers a very broad range - from 12th to 21st century, and even includes works written by choir members. New members are always welcome: practice is on Fridays at 19.30. Younger singers join as Junior Choristers.

Junior Choristers

We welcome young singers, from 8 upwards. Junior choristers learn about music and singing, and their place in church worship, and join the choir as they become ready for it. The choir is affiliated to the RSCM, and choristers follow the RSCM training scheme. The younger members of the choir make an important contribution in special services and weddings.
  Holy Cross Singers

These are members of the congregation, who lead singing at some of the less formal services or when the choir is away. They also sing at the monthly baptism service.
